SILENT MGM (1925-1929)

Garbo arrived at MGM in September 1925. She made 10 silent films for MGM. In her first film, The Torrent (1926) with Ricardo Cortez, she became an overnight sensation. MGM now knew they had a valuable property on their hands and rushed her into more films. Garbo got top billing in her second film, The Temptress (1926). By her tenth and last silent film, in 1929, The Kiss, she had become the ultimate movie star in Hollywood.
